GM'S TRIO SHARE WHAT'S UNDER THE SKIN

The new Bravada/TrailBlazer/Envoy trio share basic mechanical parts, but above the platform they share only about 30 per cent of exterior sheetmetal. Aside from being much larger than the current Blazer/Jimmy/Envoy, under the hood providing power will be a brand new, state-of-the art 4.2-litre in-line six-cylinder engine rated at 270 horsepower -- 60 more than the current 4.3-litre V6 in the Blazer/Jimmy/Envoy.

A slowdown in the car market has begun in the United States, which for about 30 per cent of all new cars sold in the world.

AUTO STOCKS MOSTLY A BAD DEAL

If you owned shares in a car company this summer, you're probably not a very happy investor.
According to the Automotive News/PricewaterhouseCoopers Automotive Shareholder Value Index, of the 10 largest global vehicle manufacturers by market capitalization, only five had positive shareholder returns in the third quarter and overall the sector declined by 3.7 per cent.
